Catching a movie is a good break away from the rallies. Away from angsty, angry, rallying people.

The movie's based on a novel by Haruki Murakami. Shall not summarise the story because the story's best read in detail. Movie-wise, it was a decent film adaptation.

But do, do watch it at home.

The film's a quiet film. A lot of silences. A lot of pauses. A few landscape/scenery shots (Yakki kept going on about how beautifully the scenes were shot). Even the sex scenes, they were not the loud bim bam erotic type. More love than lust.

So, it was not enjoyable to watch it in an ill-maintained theater with buzzing ventilation noises and rustlings of popcorn bags and giggling teenagers.

Buy the DVD instead. You'll enjoy it better in the comfort and quiet of your home.

And by the way, all the female characters are quite kawaii. Even the older one.

Scott Pilgrim Reignites Our Fire

Xiao Long Bao premiered Scott Pilgrim vs. the World at his home today.

The film, a definite hit with video games geeks and alternative music enthusiasts, is about Scott Pilgrim meeting Ramona the girl of his dreams.

Michael Cera, of Arrested Development and Juno fame, plays Scott Pilgrim who has to fight Ramona's seven "evil exes" to win her.

Both XLB and Yakki raved about the comic book-like scenes, while we all agreed that the soundtrack's better than most of the crap that's on radio these days.

The first 60 minutes of the movie was so good that it would have taken a colossal effort for the movie maker to generate the same amount of excitement and wow we experienced in the following 60. Overall, the film was filled with humour and creativity.

Really been a while since any film has sparked the boy in us.

The Nintendo video game music reminded us of our 64, Mega Drive and cartridges past, while the music inspired by Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich and Becks lifted us out of our recent musical slump.

It's time for some Golden Axe and Foo Fighters!

I doubt we'll do many movie reviews, but Inception is one of those mind-blowing, in all sense, movies that you just have to talk about. Like the first Matrix, Fight Club or American Pie, no?

So you'll know the movie's that du ba boom (explosive) when everyone comes out of the cinema feeling kinda delirious, feeling like the fiction was actually reality. That the movie was a real dream. Or not. Or is. Or yeah. Oh yeah. Oh yeah hey! Ok, Inception's like a dream. Literally. Figuratively. Ok, we don't know. You get it.

And because it was so brilliant it blew our brains apart, we have not much afterthoughts left. Except for one. That Leonardo Di Caprio is actually quite awesome.


I used to think he of the titanic era was like Nick Carter. Blonde. Floppy hair. Not much substance. Looked delicious to teenage girls. Looked like a teenage girl.

But I take that back. He's more a Justin Timberlake in the film industry. Quality.
